Evaluation of the GM Navigators Custody Pilot.

The Greater Manchester Violence Reduction Unit funded CCYJR to carry out an evaluation of the pilot project.

Funded by Manchester’s Violence Reduction Unit, the Greater Manchester Navigators project places trained youth workers into police custody suites to support children and young people at the point of arrest. The pilot aimed to offer an independent, trauma-informed, and relationship-based intervention to help divert young people from further contact with the criminal justice system. This evaluation by CCYJR explored how the pilot was delivered in practice, what challenges arose, and how the initiative might be strategically and operationally improved to help young people.
