About
We conduct research that helps improve the lives of
children and young people involved in the youth justice system
What We Do
The Centre for Crime and Youth Justice Research (CCYJR) is a world-leading research centre focused on advancing evidence-based youth justice policy and practice. Grounded in innovative methodologies, our work places children’s voices at its core, driving child-centred approaches and meaningful reform across youth justice systems.
We collaborate with youth justice services, community organisations, academics and policymakers to connect research with real-world impact, embedding participation rights and co-creating solutions that support positive outcomes for children and young people.

Mission Statement
We believe children and young people should be active participants in decisions that affect them. Through research, collaboration and advocacy, we work to embed child-centred approaches across youth justice systems.
Key Initiatives
Participatory Youth Practice (PYP)
A research-informed framework that places children’s voices and participation at the heart of youth justice practice.
